Champions Path (domestic champions from lower-ranked leagues) and League Path (non-champions from the top leagues) run separate qualifying rounds each summer; Champions League qualifying losers drop into Europa League qualifying, whose losers in turn drop into Conference League qualifying · qualifying winners plus the highest-coefficient automatic entrants form the 36-team league phase modeled below: a single seeded table where each club is drawn into 4 pots of 9 and plays 8 opponents (2 from each pot, split home/away) · top 8 advance straight to the Round of 16, 9th-24th enter a two-legged knockout play-off for the remaining 8 spots, bottom 12 are eliminated · Round of 16 onward is single-elimination, two legs until a one-off final.
